Musicians need to learn a new tune

Writer: Christopher McHaleChristopher McHale

There's no place play. There's no place to practice, there are no record sales. Musicians are supposed to be their own mixers, labels, marketers, social media managers. Drums are a fruity loop and music royalty is a whiff of smoke from a Spotify pipe.

Something has to change.

What can we do?

I suggest a new coalition of players, a coherent collection of global revenue, a cooperative of talent to focus our goals, share our resources and take control of our music.

How?

Follow this space as I outline a vision to revitalize our industry and create a future from our beautiful music.

Musicians, help me compose our new song.

I'm leaving footprints here, hints, experience and the price paid for it. It's my site, my opinions and I hope you don't necessarily agree with them because then I'll know we lived on the same merry-go-round, reaching for the same damn brass ring, reaching for it, getting it, then dropping it, and getting back on our carousel horse to try again.

I'm a poet, writer, song writer, producer and human.

I believe manners matter, love is all, health is wealth, mistakes define you, and amends make you.
